- The reflective layer is comprised of 24 karat gold, which allows maximum resistance to chemical breakdown -- one of the major causes of disc failure. The most recent test results predict the lifetime of the MAM-A Gold Archive DVD to be 116 years.
- The printable surface is perfectly suited for high-resolution color inkjet printing. No stacking ring or groove allows full-face, hub printing (printable area is from 23mm to 116mm). Like all recordable dvd's, record surface is purple. Note that the clear hub area is printable, though, because this area is clear before the inkjet layer is added to the disc, the end result of printing in this area may appear to be different than the rest of the printable area.
